Lovelia is a small, friendly community where Italians and Americans meet: to talk, to practise each other’s language, and to share a bit of everyday life on both sides of the ocean. Here you’ll find posts, articles, photos, groups and conversations about language, food, travel, traditions and the small things that make each country what it is.
Why the United States? Because of the people. In our experience, Americans are among the most open and approachable people you can meet: quick to say hello, generous with their time, curious about other ways of living, and happy to try something new — a new language, a new idea, a new way of meeting people. Many have Italian roots, or a trip to Italy they still talk about; many simply love its food, its art and its way of life. And Italians are just as curious about the United States: its cities and open spaces, its music and cinema, its language.
Italy, for its part, brings what it is: a country where people still linger at the table, where every town has its own dialect and its own recipe, and where art is part of the scenery. Here you can ask an Italian how to order a coffee the right way, or an American what life is like in a small town in the Midwest — and get an honest answer.
You can write in English or in Italian, as you prefer: fluency is never a requirement. Some come to practise a language, some to share their own culture, some to plan a trip or a move, and some simply to read and meet people. Every way of taking part is welcome, at your own pace.
This place grows thanks to those who use it every day: those who share, those who listen, those who ask and those who answer. Every exchange makes the community a little kinder, a little more curious and a little more welcoming.
